RULES:
Games will be played according to the official ASA rules. (NHUA has the right to adjust any rule)
LEAGUE PLAY:
Each team will play 15 regular season games.
POSTPONED GAMES:
Managers can call the City of New Haven hotline at 946-8030 to check if games are cancelled due to bad weather. We will make every effort to make up rain dates when possible. Daily updates to the website may be posted as well.
ROSTER:
All roster sheets are due before the start of the season. No changes will be made after the 1st week of the season. It is recommended that you are only playing for your team. Rosters and fees MUST be turned in before you can play.
UMPIRES:
Two ASA umpires shall be assigned to all games when possible. Umpire fees are to be paid before the start of the game at the field.
2 Umpires - $30 per team, per game
1 Umpire - $25 per team, per game
GAME TIMES:
Sunday: 8:45am – 9:45am – 10:45am
Monday & Wednesday: 6:00pm – 7:00pm – 8:00pm
FORFEITS:
There is a grace period of 15 minutes for the FIRST game only of each night. If a team fails to field a team of minimum 9 players at start time the opposing team will get the win. The forfeiting team will lose its $50 forfeit fee, which MUST be replenished before your next game.
SUSPENSION:
Any player, coach or manager who abuses an umpire, player or spectator is subject to suspension at the discretion of the NHUA review board.
PROTEST:
Protests will be accepted to the NHUA board within 24 hours. Protests will be allowed on rule interpretation ONLY. Judgment (safe, out, fair, foul) can not be protested. A $50 fee must be submitted with Letter of Protest.

SOFTBALLS:
Each team supplies one NEW ball per game.
Men - Worth 44 core Gold dot
Co-ed - Worth 44 core Gold dot and Worth Green Dot (one each)
BATS:
All ASA are approved for league play. NO COMPOSITES may be used in any league games. For a list of ASA non-approved bats visit http://www.asasoftball.com/about/build_batlist_one_page.asp
SCORE BOOK:
Each team was supplied a score book for the season, the HOME team is the official scorer.
Metal cleats are NOT allowed in any division
GAMES:
Each batter will start with a 1 and 1 count with NO extra foul. Each team can play with a minimum of 9 players and a max of 12. Co-ed teams can play with either 10 or 12, with equal amount of men and women. In Co-ed, a walk to a male with less than 2 outs the female WILL bat, with 2 outs she has the option of taking a walk or batting, her first choice is final.
TRAVESITY RULE:
20 after 3 innings
15 after 4 innings
10 after 5 innings
Home team does NOT bat after the 5th inning (ex. visitors go ahead by 10 in top of 6th the game is over)
STATE TOURNAMENTS:
All teams are ASA registered and are eligible for state games. More information to follow during the season or contact a league official.
DRUGS AND ALCOHOL:
It is mandatory that all drugs and alcohol be kept away from player’s benches and playing field. In case of abuse of this rule, the umpire may forfeit the game and players or team can be dropped from the league.
